Ci troviamo in una delle piazze più caratteristiche di Mornese
In seguito ad un risanamento urbanistico ottocentesco, l'attuale piazza fu creata come “Piazza Umberto” e ospitò la nuova caserma dei Carabinieri e la pesa pubblica. In adiacenza, il fabbro Cavanna aveva costruito la sua fucina su terreno del Marchese Doria. Negli anni ’70, la caserma dismessa fu acquistata da Giovanni Campi che vi portò il suo ristorante “Jolly”, conosciuto in tutta la zona per i suoi ravioli e altri prodotti tipici. Il fronte delle case dirimpettaie a schiera, che segue la curva dell’antica “Contrada della Colla”, ospitava il calzolaio Nannini e, oltre il voltino, l’officina del fabbro Pestarino con il “ciclista”, suo fratello “Ricco del Neirone” (Nejun). Caratteristica, e sempre ben provvista la bottega di Palmira, poi condotta dal vedovo “Ngiulin”. Proseguendo sotto il voltino, troviamo a destra l’evidenza di un ex bastione fortificato a guardia dell’antico Castellazzo, dove la strada si divideva in via della Colla Inferiore e Superiore (poi denominato “il Caruggio”). Il Castellazzo si trovava all’apice della collina (colla, in dialetto locale) stessa. In anni più recenti, la piazza viene spesso citata come “Piazza da Jolly”, in riferimento al bar/ristorante presente nell’area.

As a result of a nineteenth-century urban renewal, the current square was created as Piazza Umberto and it housed the new Carabinieri barracks, as well as the public weigh station. Next to the square, the blacksmith Cavanna built his forge on the ground, that belonged to the Marquis Doria. In the 1970s, the abandoned barracks was bought by Giovanni Campi, who brought his restaurant “Jolly”, known throughout the area for its delicious Ravioli and other typical products. The front of the opposite terraced houses, following the curve of the ancient Contrada della Colla housed the shoemaker Nannini and, beyond the vault, the workshop of the Blacksmith Pestarino with his brother Ricco del Neirone, (Nejun), known as “the cyclist”. Palmira's small shop, later run by the widower 'Nigulin', was characteristic and always well stocked. Continuing under the vault, we find on the right the evidence of a former fortified bastion, a defensive structure guarding the ancient castellazzo, where the road divided into Via della Colla Inferiore and Superiore (later called “Caruggio”). The so called Castellazzo stood at the top of the little hill (“colla” in local dialect). In more recent years, the square is often called Piazza da Jolly, referring to the bar/restaurant in the area.

À la suite d’une rénovation urbaine du XIXe siècle, la place actuelle a été créée comme "Piazza Umberto" et a accueilli la nouvelle caserne de la Gendarmerie et la bascule publique. À côté, le forgeron Cavanna avait construit sa forge sur le terrain du marquis Doria. Dans les années 70, la caserne désaffectée fut achetée par Giovanni Campi qui y ouvrit son restaurant "Jolly", connu dans toute la zone pour ses raviolis et d’autres produits typiques. Le front des maisons en face, qui suit la courbe de l’ancien quartier “della Colla", abritait le cordonnier Nannini et, au-delà du linteau, l’atelier du forgeron Pestarino avec le "cycliste", son frère "Ricco del Neirone" (Nejun). La boutique de Palmira était caractéristique et toujours bien équipée, ensuite gérée par le veuf "Ngiulin". En continuant sous le linteau, on trouve à droite le signe d’un ancien bastion fortifié qui gardait l’ancien Castellazzo, où la route se divisait en rue de la Colla Inférieure et Supérieure (plus tard dénommé "le Caruggio"). Le Castellazzo se trouvait au sommet de la colline (colle, en dialecte local) elle-même. Ces dernières années, la place est souvent citée comme "Piazza da Jolly", en référence au bar/restaurant présent dans la zone.

Der Platz entstand im 19. Jahrhundert als “Piazza Umberto” im Zuge einer Bausanierung mit einer Kaserne der Carabinieri und der öffentlichen Waage. Auf dem angrenzenden Gründstuck der Marchesi Doria hatte der Schmied Cavanna seine Werkstatt eingerichtet. In den 70er Jahren erwarb Giovanni Campi die leerstehende Kaserne für sein Restaurant “Jolly”, das in der ganzen Gegend für seine “ravioli” und andere typische Gerichte bekannt ist. Die gegenüberliegende Häuserfront folgt der Kurve der alten “Contrada della Colla”. Hier hatten der Schuster Nannini seinen Laden und, jenseits des Bogens, der Schmied Pestarino seine Werkstatt; sein Bruder Ricco “Nejun”repararierte daneben unsere Fahrräder. Palmiras Kolonialwarenladen, den ihr Witwer Ngiulin weiterführte, war charakteristisch und gut bevorratet. Nach dem Torbogen finden wir rechts die Reste einer Stadtmauer zum Schutz des alten Castellazzo. Hier teilte sich die Straße in Via della Colla Inferiore und Via della Colla Superiore (später in “Caruggio” umbenannt). Auf dem Gipfel des Hügels (colla) bot die Burganlage Schutz. In letzter Zeit ist der Platz von allen als “bei Jolly” bekannt, weil man sich bei der Bar des Restaurants trifft.

После реконструкции города в девятнадцатом веке нынешняя площадь была преобразована в «Пьяцца Умберто», и на ней разместились новые казармы карабинеров и весы для общественного пользования. Рядом кузнец Каванна построил свою кузницу на земле маркиза Дориа. В 1970-х годах заброшенная казарма была куплена Джованни Кампи, который перенес туда свой ресторан Jolly, известный во всем округе своими равиоли и другими типичными блюдами. Напротив ресторана Jolly, в домах, расположенных вдоль изгиба древней Contrada della Colla, находился сапожник Наннини, а за сводом - кузнечная мастерская Пестарино с «велосипедистом», его братом «Рикко дель Нейроне» (Неджун). Характерный и всегда хорошо снабжаемый магазин Пальмиры, которым позже владел вдовец Нгиулин. Проходя дальше под сводом, мы находим справа свидетельства бывшего укрепленного бастиона, охранявшего древний Castellazzo, где дорога разделялась на Виа делла Колла Инфериоре и Супериоре (позже названная «il Caruggio»).
